Mel's Diner opened in 1956, by Mel Gilman and offered the now famous "Moo Burger". Mel and his wife Faye wanted abusiness that would allow them to be independent.

Through the years the diner has seen many changes, both in the community and to the diner itself.

As the diner grew and expanded, so did the fame of the "Moo Burger", with people calling from around the country to inquire about it. A local resident went as far as to bring a "Moo Burger" by plane to her son in Seattle! He loved it.

Mel and Fayes Diner is a family owned and operated business and the tradition continues to this day. Bart Gilman (Mel and Faye's son) with his wife Maura and their children, currently operate the new Mel and Faye's Diner at the new location, only 100 yards south of the old diner's location, on Highway 49/88.

The location has changed, but the great service, tasty food and fun atmosphere is not only still there, it's better than ever!
